Q: How long does it last?
A: You can expect in excess of 10-15 years depending on traffic use & frequency (comparable to tarmac).
Q: What is the guarantee?
A: 10 years (subject to contract T&C’s).
Q: Is it non-slip?
A: Yes – a non-slip coating is applied to the finished resin surface.
Q: Does it fade and is it affected by frost or heat?
A: Only the highest quality UV resistant resins are used so there is not fading and the resin has been vigorously tested and proven against extreme weather conditions.
Q: Is it possible to repair?
A: Yes – it can easily be repaired if necessary or additional areas matched up to existing.
Q: Will I need drainage?
A: Existing drainage may be adequate, but we can place additional drainage if required.
Q: Do you carry out groundwork if needed?
A: Yes – we can carry out all preparation necessary including drainage, manhole replacement covers, dig out, hardcore, concrete or tarmac, edgings etc.
Q: Does moss or weeds grow on it?
A: Due to its application onto non-porous substrate, there will be no weed growth through the resin screed, however there is no guarantee from surface weed/ grass seeds, but these are easily removed using weed killer & stiff brush or jet wash. Moss will grow on anything, but resin bound system is more resistant than most surfaces & can be easily removed with a jet wash or high-pressure hose & moss killer /remover.
Q: Will it be shiny?
A: Shine is a personal preference, but this usually dulls down over time. If you request less shine for a more natural finish this can be easily achieved on request.
Q: Can I use salt or other chemicals on it?
A: Yes – the resins used are all chemical resistant & not affected by salt, weed killer, detergents & other chemicals.
Q: Can I use a jet wash?
A: Yes – up to 3 bar of pressure can be used.
Q: What surface does it need to be laid onto?
A: Any firm, sound substrate can be used as the base surface, ideally tarmac or concrete. If planning requirements state a porous substrate this can be laid prior to the porous resin bound system being applied.
Q: What is the thickness once laid?
A: It depends on use of the area & size of the aggregate used but generally 15-20mm.
Q: Is it suitable for HGV vehicle use?
A: Yes - we can use a suitable blend of stone and resin for additional strength for HGV / heavy traffic use if requested.
Q: What surface does it need to be laid on?
A: It can be laid on any firm, viable smooth surface ideally tarmac or concrete.
Q: Can it be sealed?
A: Yes, a sealer coat can be applied to seal in stones from the top surface & give a richer look to the aggregate & enhance the natural colour of the stones.
Q: What surface preparation is needed?
A: As long as the surface is sound & reasonably smooth, there is no preparation needed. Any surface cracks can be fibre-glassed for additional strengthening, and any large undulations can be eradicated with void filler prior to laying of the resin bonded screed.
Q: Can I use a jet wash?
A: Yes – up to 3 bar of pressure can be used.
Q: Do weeds grow on it?
A: Due to its non-porous nature, no weeds can grow through it from the substrate – any surface weeds/grass seeds can be easily removed with weed killer & swept or jet washed off.
Q: Do I need drainage?
A: Due to its non-porous nature, drainage may be required but this will depend on the drainage already in place, surrounding borders, fall or gradients already in place. There are many different types of drainage options which we can happily discuss with you on request.
Q: What is its life span?
A: You can expect in excess of 10-15 years depending on traffic use & frequency (comparable to tarmac).
Q: How thick is it laid?
A: It is laid between 3-6mm depending on the size of aggregate used.
Q: Do you carry out preparation work?
A: Yes – alternatively you can contract in your own ground-workers ready for us to complete with topping screed.
Q: Is it possible to repair or add on an additional area?
A: Yes, it can easily be repaired or add on additional areas at a later date.
Q: Can I remove oil from it?
A: Yes – mild detergent & water using a stiff brush will remove most oil.
Q: Can it be used with underfloor heating?
A: Yes – due to natural flexible qualities of the resin used, it is highly suitable for use with all types of underfloor heating.
Q: Can it be used in wetrooms?
A: Yes – it is highly suitable as gives a seamless, non-slip finish that can be laid to incorporate falls for drainage.
Q: How do you clean it?
A: Steam or carpet cleaners are ideal, alternatively brush & mop can be used with mild detergent/chemical cleaners.
Q: Is it slippery when wet?
A: No – a non-slip coating is applied to the finished resin screed & can be increased if required for slopes, pool/spa surrounds etc. Or where necessary.
